The Dance

At Beat Zoo, we have a simple philosophy: jumping around to sick beats and deep cuts is the best way to meet the most joyous, playful and connected version of ourselves.

"It's something unpredicable, but in the end it's right" [Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day] captures the typical Beat Zoo experience. Each set is full of Shazam-worthy tracks, most of which you'll be hearing for the first time.

While each track is pretty damn good, it's their pairing that makes the magic. Over the course of an hour or so we'll ride a wave of tempo, emotion and texture, from 0 to 100 and back again.

In the same way that you don't launch into your heaviest sets as soon as you arrive at the gym, we take a gradual approach to the arc of the dance. We'll start without beats, step up towards higher expression and intensity, and allow ample time to revel and reflect on the way down from the summit.

Speaking of a gradual approach, we don't just roll off the street into the dance. We start with an opening circle to meet our fellow dancers, then have a guided movement warmup. Each session will introduce a new tool for improvised movement, allowing you to venture beyond familiar patterns.

PS when we say "we", this is the Royal We. It's just Ed (see below).

DJ Ed Terry

DJ Ed Terry's sets are cinematic.

His dance floors invite you to pass up perfection, and instead delight in the full spectrum of movement, from glitching to gliding.

His eclectic style stamps your passport with House, Afro, Latin and Bass notes to dislodge the familiar and bring what’s just out of reach into your grasp.

Ed has played at Burning Man and at Ecstatic Dances in cities across the US.
